This field is usually filled with cows, but not today. I think it was too hot and they found shelter down in the valley. I've painted this barn several times. It's only a few miles away from the historic John Muir home.

Pt. Lobos Path

Painted plein air on a Spring day near the southern end of Pt. Lobos. The afternoon winds started picking up  at this exposed location. I (just before I did this painting) was walking through a forested path less than a mile away and ran into Jesse Powell painting with Scott Christensen. Wow!

Blackwood Canyon - Lake Tahoe

More a study of greys and neutrals. Barry John Raybould (http://www.bjrgallery.com/) is really good, in my opinion, of using greys effectively.

This was a plein air painting on a afternoon with fairly flat light on a late summer day this year. I see some areas that could have used a few "value" adjustments, but I left it alone when I got back the cabin and I'm happy that I did.
